We did it. We got through the winter and we’re ready to ditch the sweaters and boots for tanks and sandals! While you’re updating your wardrobe, don’t forget to do some spring cleaning on your skin! Those winter months may have left you with dull, dry, spotty skin on your face and bod, but never fear- gorgeous skin is easier than you think! I’m going to share my 3 top skin care secrets with you for beautiful, healthy skin just in time for summer.
The More You Roll, The More You Glow
If you’re looking to achieve that summer glow, investing in a micro-roller this spring is a must! A micro-roller is a device outfitted with dozens of small needles. When rolled over skin it physically stimulates your EGFs, a growth factor that stimulates cell growth, proliferation, and differentiation. This allows your skin to slow or even reverse the signs of aging! Here are some of the amazing benefits of using a micro-roller:
- Stimulates skin’s healing response to optimize cell function and increase natural collagen production
- Increases product penetration by 80%
- Breaks down scar tissue to help smooth out acne scars
- Improves hyperpigmentation
- Helps “fill out” the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles
Exfoliate, Exfoliate, Exfoliate!
Your home isn’t the only thing due for some spring-cleaning. Help your body get rid of dead skin cells and reveal softer, smoother skin by exfoliating weekly. Here are some of the many benefits that come when you exfoliate your skin.
Eliminate Dead Skin
Exfoliating products get rid of dead skin better than standard cleansers. Clogged pores lead to blackheads and acne, but by using an exfoliator regularly, troubling acne spots are more likely to disappear. Dead skin also makes it harder for new, healthy cells to grow, which leaves your skin looking dull. Exfoliation helps to speed up the skin renewal process.
Diminish the Appearance of Pores
You can say goodbye to pesky pores! Weekly exfoliation is the best way to keep pores clog-free and smaller in appearance.
Helps Skin Care Products Penetrate Deeper
Have you ever purchased a skin care product and found that your skin doesn’t get any benefit from it? It might not be the product itself that’s to blame. When you don’t exfoliate, layers of dead skin continue to pile up, leaving any products you apply unable to penetrate your skin. Once you remove all that build up, products get a chance to really sink in and work!
Throw Out Those Old Skin Products
Believe me, I know how hard it is to throw out products that haven’t been fully used by their expiration date- but did you know that microbes and bacteria lurking around in those bottles might actually be causing the skin problems you’re trying to solve? Ensure your beauty supply is springtime fresh with these guidelines:
Sunscreen with a SPF of 30 or 50 with broadband protection UVA and UVB is an absolute must when spending any amount of time outdoors. The FDA requires sunscreen makers to post expiration dates on the packaging, so be sure to throw out any SPF product that is expired or more than three years old.
Get rid of eye creams after three months, or sooner if they have changed colors, smell funny, or sting when applied.
Lotion is usually good to keep for up to a year, unless it smells or has changed colors.
Liquid foundation and facial moisturizers
Expired foundations and moisturizers aren’t just less effective, they also could cause irritation and bacterial infections. Both should be thrown out after 6 months.
