This day represents a call to celebrate the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women. This year, International Women’s Day
is focused on gender parity—an issue that I know most women care deeply about. In honor of this special holiday and its focus on equal pay for working women, I thought I’d write a post especially for industrious ladies.
As a working esthetician, it can be hard to find time to just have a seat during the day, let alone execute all the self-care rituals I know are important for my well being. I’m not alone; most of my high-powered clients consistently say they just don’t have time to give their skin the attention it needs. Luckily, it doesn’t have to be that hard. Here are a few easy skin tips I use when I’m crunched for time.
Take Your Vitamins
When stressed or busy, we don’t always eat the most vitamin-rich foods. We usually just grab what is easiest. I tell all my busy clients to add a multivitamin to their skincare regimen. It will help keep your body and skin balanced if you’re skimping on fruits and veggies. Vitamins A, B, C & E have myriad skin benefits including fading dark spots and preventing wrinkles.
Use a Humidifier
One of the best things I did for my skin this winter was keep a humidifier going in my room at night. It kept my skin plump and hydrated, and it even helped alleviate my eczema. It’s a super simple solution perfect for the busy woman; just plug it in before bed and wake up to better skin.
Treat Your Skin In-Flight
If regular travel is part of your agenda, start developing an in-flight skincare regimen. The recycled air on planes is notoriously dehydrating and there are loads of bacteria floating around. Remove all your makeup before your flight, and apply a moisturizing serum like my HA Hydrating Serum followed by hydrating SPF.
Don’t forget your eyes! Dab a small amount eye cream and ask the stewardess for some ice to depuff on take off and upon landing. Tie your hair out of your face and try to get some sleep. Break a Sweat
I know how hard it is to squeeze in a workout, but the benefits to your skin are so remarkable, that it’s really important to set aside the time, even if it's only 15 minutes. Exercise brings fresh oxygenated blood to your skin, cleanses clogged pores, and promotes collagen production.
Five Minutes Morning and Night
I’m not sure why, but so many of my clients believe that they need to make a major skincare time commitment every morning and night. It’s not necessary. Just make sure you set aside 5 minutes to cleanse your face, apply active treatments like my anti-aging PSC Peptide Serums with Micro-Roller
, and finish with a moisturizer. Even adding exfoliation with my TCA Multi-Acid Face Peel will only take an extra minute or two. Just brush it on, leave it on while you sleep, and wake up to totally refreshed skin. You don’t need a lot of time to have great skin; just keep your skincare regimen simple with the right products and you’ll see the results you are looking for.
