How to Treat Under Eye Bags, Darkness, and Lines

HOW TO TREAT UNDER EYE BAGS, DARKNESS, AND LINES

Whether you’re constantly burning the midnight oil or just suffer from resting tired face, you’re probably no stranger to under-eye darkness, puffiness, and fine lines. While you may be tempted to cover those bad boys with a heavy layer of concealer, why not actually treat them instead? Here are a few of our favorite tips for the delicate skin under your eyes.

Understanding Your Eyes

The skin around your eyes is especially thin and delicate, making it more prone to skin woes like sagging, puffiness, and fine lines. As we age, we lose collagen in the skin, which can make these issues worse. Losing collagen and volume around your eyes can also make dark circles look more pronounced. Most dark circles are caused by blood pooling beneath the skin--when the skin is thinner, this pooling becomes darker and more noticeable.

Lifestyle Tips for Younger-Looking Eyes

In addition to a targeted skincare regimen, there are some easy lifestyle changes that can help alleviate under eye concerns. Getting enough sleep, eating less salt, and treating chronic allergies with a decongestant can help to reduce inflammation around the eyes; when the blood vessels under the eyes are less inflamed, the skin will look less puffy, and under-eye circles will diminish. If your under-eye darkness is brown and doesn’t fluctuate, it may be hyperpigmentation caused by heredity, sun exposure, or trauma to the eye area. Use a gentle SPF with physical protectants like zinc oxide to keep this area from getting darker.

Our Three-Step Regimen for Younger-Looking Eyes

Step 1: Firm, Tighten & Brighten

Twice daily, apply our Firming Eye Complex. This lightweight serum is formulated with our Adaptive Complex 25™ (AC-25™), a powerful anti-aging complex powered by an advanced delivery system that transports collagen-building peptides deep into the skin. Astaxanthin, a powerful antioxidant, works to fight free radical damage, chrysin brightens dark circles to promote a youthful glow, and honey locust extract helps tighten your skin and create a firmer look within just 5 minutes.

Step 2: Reduce Dark Circles

Once-daily after applying the Firming Eye Complex, gently roll our MicroNeedling Skin Refining Tool under your eyes vertically and horizontally to minimize the appearance of dark circles and fine lines around the eye.

Step 3: Cool & De-Puff

To instantly minimize puffiness and inflammation, gently roll over your eyes with our Cryotherapy Ice Roller, a versatile tool that you can keep in your freezer so it’s always ready when your skin needs a big chill.
