FAQs
What is Microneedling?
Microneedling is a skincare technique that uses tiny needles to create small, controlled “micro-injuries” on the surface of your skin. These tiny punctures trigger your body’s natural healing process, which helps produce more collagen and elastin.
Many people use microneedling to improve their skin’s texture and appearance. While it may sound intense, microneedling can be done safely at home using a specialized at-home microneedling tool designed for safe, easy, and effective use. Microneedling is suitable for most skin types, making it a versatile option for those looking to enhance their skincare routine.
It’s popular because it works below the surface to boost skin health, rather than just targeting the outer layer. With regular use, microneedling can leave your skin looking smoother, brighter, and more refreshed. Many users find it to be a great way to maintain youthful, glowing skin at home.
What Does Microneedling Do?
Microneedling benefits your skin in several ways. By promoting collagen and elastin production, microneedling helps reduce the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, and acne scars, giving your skin a smoother, firmer look. It can also help improve skin tone, reduce dark spots, and even shrink large pores.
Because the micro-injuries allow skincare products to penetrate deeper, using serums after microneedling can boost their effectiveness. Over time, regular microneedling can enhance skin’s natural glow and make it look more even and youthful.
It’s also known to help with skin elasticity, which can prevent sagging as you age. Many people use microneedling to improve dull or tired skin, helping it feel revitalized. You can explore other skincare tools to complement your microneedling routine.
Does Microneedling Hurt?
A common microneedling myth is that it’s painful. Microneedling can cause a slight tingling or pricking sensation, but most people find it very tolerable, especially with an at-home microneedling tool that’s designed to be gentle on the skin with needles that are much smaller than a professional treatment. Microneedling at home should be done with needles .3mm or shorter. You may feel mild discomfort, especially on sensitive areas like the nose or near the eyes.
Some people choose to apply a calming serum before or after to soothe the skin. With regular use, your skin may get used to the sensation, and the process will become easier.
After microneedling, your skin may feel slightly warm or sensitive, but this usually subsides within a few hours. You can use an Ice Roller to calm the skin immediately after microneedling. Remember to swap out the roller head with our microneedle refills monthly to keep the needles sharp and effective.
How Often Should You Microneedle At Home?
At-home microneedling should be done 5-7 times per week. For professional treatments, depending on the depth of the needles, these can be spaced out anywhere from 1 -4 weeks. If you’re new to microneedling at home, start out with 3-4 times a week, and gradually work up to 5-7 times a week if your skin tolerates it well. Some individuals with specific skin concerns might benefit from more frequent treatments, but monitoring how your skin reacts is essential.
Always listen to your skin; if you experience excessive redness or discomfort, it’s best to extend the time between sessions. Be sure to follow up with a hydrating serum and keep your skincare tools clean and sanitized for the best results. Consistency is key, so establish a routine that works for you to achieve optimal skin health.
