Wedding Day Skin Prep

Wedding Day Skin Prep

The bride was glowing." Isn’t that what everyone says?

With the stress of planning the wedding, wrangling the Best Man, AND keeping the in-laws happy, it’s not uncommon for a bride’s skin to revolt days before she walks down the aisle. If there’s one last minute stress you don’t need, it’s waking up on game day with a breakout. While wedding planning can inevitably have its skin-wrecking stresses, there are pre-wedding skin care routines that you can follow to keep your skin radiant and blemish-free when you say, "I do."

3 Months Out

If you’re not already using high quality skincare products, begin at least three months before your wedding in order to see results in time for the big day. We recommend starting to use a Microneedling Tool a few months in advance to help resurface, tighten, and brighten skin. Pair it with our EGF serum to lift any hyperpigmentation and aid in collagen production.

You should also begin dermaplaning once a week to encourage total skin brightness, firmness, and clarity. Our Dermaplaning Tool makes it easy to do these treatments yourself. The tool gently removes dead skin and baby hair on the face, encouraging new cell turnover and creating a flawless canvas for makeup application.

3 Weeks Out

While you’re probably already on some kind of pre-wedding eating plan, start eating for your skin three weeks before your wedding. Avoid inflammatory foods like dairy, wheat and alcohol, which can cause redness, puffiness, and skin dehydration. Instead, load up on antioxidant-rich veggies like bell peppers, carrots, squashes, and greens. Add fruits rich in water to your diet as well (think melon, apple, oranges, and stone fruit) to keep your skin moisturized from the inside out.

This is also a great time to begin using a body peel to encourage smooth, supple, blemish-free skin all over. Begin by applying our TCA Multi-Acid Body Peel once or twice a week. If you want a deep peel, use it without a moisturizer. If you’d like more mild results, follow with a body lotion. This peel will help soften bumpy chicken skin, banish body acne, and encourage brighter skin.

2 Weeks Out

Two weeks before your wedding, consider booking an appointment with your aesthetician. She will be able to give your skin a deep cleaning and recommend any additional treatments that will help prepare your skin. Two weeks is plenty of time for any redness caused by extractions or treatments to subside.

1 Week Out

One week before your wedding, use a face peel like our TCA Multi-Acid Face Peel to resurface your skin. You should also be regularly using a serum rich in hyaluronic acid like our HA Hydrating Serum. This will help draw moisture into the skin and create a plumper, smoother, more moisturized appearance. It will also help alleviate flakes and dryness, which can become more apparent with wedding makeup.

3-5 Days Out

Three to five days before your wedding, it’s time to dermaplane your skin to prep for the big day. Dermaplaning three to five days before your wedding will remove unwanted facial hair and create a flawless surface for your wedding makeup, but give your skin time to recover if it needs it. At this point, you should also be applying our Hydrating Lip Peel every day to prevent chapping and keep your lips silky smooth.
