Simple Skincare Resolutions for Healthier Skin
Written by Kerry Benjamin

Let’s skip the fluff: your skin doesn’t need more products—it needs a smarter routine.
As we age, our natural cell turnover slows way down. That means dead skin cells stick around longer, making your complexion look dull, uneven, and tired—no matter how much you’re spending on serums. The fix isn’t complicated. It’s about being intentional. Speed up cell renewal with the right ingredients, clear out dead skin, and keep your barrier strong. This is how we take care of our skin now.
Step 1: Cleanse Like You Mean It
A good cleanse is non-negotiable. Your skin can’t absorb anything if it’s layered in makeup, SPF, or pollution. But let’s be clear: cleansing shouldn’t strip your skin raw.
Use: Prebiotic Gel Cleanser—a sulfate-free, microbiome-friendly formula that leaves your skin clean, calm, and ready to take in your active ingredients. I use it twice daily. No foam, no fragrance, no drama.
Step 2: Force Your Cell Turnover
Your 40s+ skin isn’t exfoliating itself anymore—you have to make it happen. That means combining targeted ingredients like retinol, EGF, and peels with physical exfoliation to get the job done. This combo clears out the old cells, resurfaces texture, fades dark spots, and keeps your glow going.
Use:
- Dermaplaning Tool once a week to remove dead skin and peach fuzz.
- Follow immediately with our Multi Acid TCA Face Peel 3–4 times per week. (Never use the high-frequency wand before this step.)
- On alternating nights, layer in Advanced Retinol Serum to keep your skin regenerating between exfoliation days.
If you want glowing skin, this is your non-negotiable routine.
Step 3: Activate & Absorb with Serums + Microneedling
You don’t need five serums. You need two that work hard, and a way to get them deeper into your skin. That’s where microneedling comes in. It creates micro-channels that allow your actives to absorb better—plus it stimulates collagen on its own.
Use (in this order):
- EGF Serum with SH-Oligopeptide-1 to stimulate collagen, accelerate cell turnover, and fade fine lines and dark spots.
- Microneedling Tool, 5x per week. After applying EGF, glide the tool gently across your skin to drive the serum deeper and boost its effects.
- Follow immediately with HA Hydrating Serum to soothe, plump, and lock in hydration.
This trio works together to keep your skin active, resilient, and radiant—without downtime.
Step 4: Rebuild Your Barrier
If your skin feels dry, tight, or irritated—it’s a barrier issue. And if you’re exfoliating or using retinol, barrier support isn’t optional.
Use:
- Microbiome Rescue Moisturizer calms and strengthens skin with ceramides.
- Seal it in with Shiunko Face Oil, especially after exfoliation or microneedling. It helps lock in hydration, smooth texture, and protect your skin from environmental stress.
Think of this step as skin rehab. You’re restoring what you’ve challenged, and your skin will bounce back stronger.
Start Where You Are
This isn’t about perfection—it’s about progress. Show up for your skin consistently with products that actually do something. You don’t need more. You need what works.
